Sichuan Teachers Complain About Being Forced to Inspect Food Deliveries at 5:50 AM

Sichuan Teachers Forced to Inspect School Food Deliveries at Dawn, Education Authorities Respond

Recently, multiple locations in Sichuan have seen netizens reporting the issue of "unreasonable arrangements for teachers to inspect vegetables at school in the early morning." A middle school in Kaijiang County required teachers to arrive at school at 5:50 AM to inspect vegetables, with mandatory rotating shifts, sparking controversy.

On June 23, the Kaijiang County Education Bureau responded, stating that it had instructed the relevant school to rectify the issue immediately and not to force ordinary teachers to participate in food ingredient inspection. The bureau pointed out that the Ministry of Education's relevant documents do not require ordinary teachers to be involved in food ingredient inspection, and forcing teachers to inspect vegetables is an unreasonable increase in their workload.

A similar issue occurred in Xide County, Liangshan, Sichuan. The local education and sports bureau responded that it had coordinated with suppliers to adjust delivery times, postponing them to after 6:00 AM to reduce the impact on teachers' schedules, and initiated specialized training to gradually reduce reliance on teachers for such tasks.
